🙏As always thanks for reading CleanWork Report!
Let’s get right to it!
One of the main reasons cleaning companies lose contracts is because they aren’t delivering good service.
If you can master this, the sky is the limit.
Yes, there are lots of other things involved in running a cleaning service, but providing an overall good service is a key component.
How do you set a new standard?
One way would be to go above and beyond in transparency.
The more open and honest you force yourself to be with the task and the cleanliness of the facility, the better your service will perform. By doing monthly check-ins with the facility manager and showing proof of work through documentation, you will bring something new to the table that most people aren’t used to.
A simple document with the SOW and an employee’s signature to verify completion should be a good start.
Here’s a post on Improving Janitorial Contract Performance with Facility Management Performance Scorecards.
It’s a little bit of a read but it is full of valuable information and documents.
Also, the first post in CleanWork Report #0008 may be helpful when it comes to setting a new standard which will then create a moat around that contract.
📓Greatest Lessons From Successful Cleaning Companies VOL. 1 - Lesson 11
Trying to compromise and understand your client’s cleaning needs can help with keeping the contract for a longer period of time and build a better relationship with the person who handles the cleaning contract for that facility.

📢 A Way To Promote Your Business
#012 on the Ways To Promote Your Cleaning Service List.
Make a Twitter account for your cleaning service.
I’ve noticed a lot of cleaning services have a twitter but use it to post little to nothing and what they do post isn’t helpful or engaging.
My suggestion would be to post as often as you post on your other social accounts, even if its the same information, and to try and engage with potential customers. If Twitter isn’t your thing just make one and add a nice logo, a banner, and a link to your website.

Thoughts:
For strip and wax, I would be in the 35-45 cent range. and around 20 cents for a standard spray buff.
Striping and waxing is a very laborious and time-consuming task so you should always make sure its worth it.
My quote for a 2000sqft floor would be:
S & W: 2000sqft X .40 = $800.00
Buff: 2000sqft X .20 = $400.00
Not sure how to strip and wax?

Buffing VS Burnishing
Spray buffing and burnishing will both polish a floor but use different procedures and equipment.
Check out these videos if you are just getting started or are not sure which to use and when.

As you can see there is more than one way to skin a cat. Make sure whatever machine or method you decide to use will complete your task in a timely manner with the best finish possible.
💪Motivation
Growth is your effort compounded.
I think everyone’s expectation or dream is to achieve success right away, but it hardly ever happens that way.
Over the past several months I have been making sure to post valuable information and help as much as possible with questions about commercial cleaning in the Janitorial Service Community x CleanWork group. As you can see, during the first couple of months it didn’t seem like that effort was creating any growth. But when you zoom out you can see all that all the effort I put forth was actually compounding little by little.
Through consistent action, you will eventually see growth.
Keep going.
Keep growing.
