🙏As always thanks for reading CleanWork Report!
Let’s get right to it!
Moats = Long-Lasting Contracts
How do some cleaning companies keep contracts for decades?
Simple.
Moats.
Your moat could be several things but the best moats are a combination.
Here are 3 examples that made it possible for my family's cleaning service to keep a client for 40+ years and others for decades:
Top-notch work
Delivering a new standard of cleanliness to a facility is a great way to create a moat.
Sure, most cleaning companies can clean well, but if you are able to outclass the last contractor you’re creating an opportunity to stick around for a long time.
Transparency
Being 100% transparent with your customer not only keeps you accountable but increases trust to a level most cleaning services don’t reach.
Strong b2c relationships
This is probably the best way to build a moat.
Nothing will keep you around longer than a strong relationship with the person who handles the cleaning contract or numerous others throughout the facility.
With strong relationships, your contract could span decades which leads to consistent cash flow and increased profits every time the contract renews.
With the 40+ year contract we have, our service actually grew with this company.
They went from just a small warehouse and a store or two to 1800+ stores and numerous large commercial offices and warehouses. All of which are contracted to us.
Practice these three examples, there’s no telling where it could take you.
📓Greatest Lessons From Successful Cleaning Companies VOL. 1 - Lesson 7
A worst-case scenario could be many things.
But one of the usual worst-case scenarios for a cleaning service would be a no call no show employee.
So how can you be prepared for that type of scenario?
No call no show employee
We usually have building managers handle the extra work or divide up the work between employees.
The no call no show employee is also written up.
How do you handle this scenario and others that pop up?

📢 A Way To Promote Your Business
#008 on the Ways To Promote Your Cleaning Service List.
Make a Facebook business page.
Your Facebook business page shouldn't replace your company website.
It should be an extension of it.
Your business page should contain all the same company information as your website and then some.
Use your Facebook business page as another way to connect to current customers and find new leads.
Be sure to post pictures from past jobs and display positive reviews.
This tutorial will get your Facebook business page up and running.

Thoughts:
I agree with Micheal and Jeannine, always get something signed.
Period.
Without an actual document signed, you could be let go at any time and there is no actual accountability for either party.
Personally, I would have my company information and history as a separate document.
And everything else within an actual contract.
Thoughts:
Personally we haven't really done any marketing.
One of our larger contracts were ahead of the game and ask us to bring on an extra person to disinfect high touch point areas throughout all their facilities all day long.
Basically an extra day porter for each of there facilities that would do nothing but hit the same areas over and over again throughout the day. That has been in place since March.
Some of our state contracts reached out around May ask what type of disinfecting service we can perform and for prices.
And for all of our other contracts, I just sent an email letting them know what we can do to help. Some said yes some said not right now.
I've seen people throughout the Facebook groups making flyers and little videos.
I would say market to your current contracts since your foot is already in the door. Then try reaching out to other businesses with a phone call or email.
