🙏As always thanks for reading CleanWork Report!
Let’s get right to it!
Prof•it
-A financial gain.
This is the most important piece of the pie when it comes to creating a quote.
How much should you make minus all your costs?
It definitely differs depending on the facility and SOW. But should be at least 20% or more for your standard office cleaning.
With that said, don’t have a set profit margin.
This could lead to you leaving money(profit) on the table.
Here are some common methods and formulas used to charge for cleaning 👇
Uses these as a rule of thumb and adjust your numbers accordingly.
📓Greatest Lessons From Successful Cleaning Companies VOL. 1 - Lesson 9
This is a great lesson to keep in mind every time you quote a job. This perfectly aligns with the profit margin topic.
I think one of the best ways to quote a job is to keep it simple. Figure out all your costs then add a profit that matches the value you provide as a service.

📢 A Way To Promote Your Business
#010 on the Ways To Promote Your Cleaning Service List.
Put an ad in the newspaper.
This simple task could lead to a few contracts. I have seen a lot of cleaning RFPs in the newspaper so maybe these same people read the newspaper.
The cost of a newspaper ad depends on the newspaper's location and circulation size, as well as the color, frequency, and day of the week your ad is published.
Ex:
The local paper may charge $12 per inch for a black and white ad, so a 4-inch by 10-inch ad would cost $480.

Thoughts:
I don’t think there is anything wrong with hiring family or friends. We have done this since the start of our business.
As long as your friend or family member understands upfront that you are running a business and that they are expected to act as an employee and will be treated like all other employees, hopefully, you won’t have any problems.
I will admit though some of our worst employees were family members.
With that said, the best you can do whether it is a friend, a family member, or a stranger, is to train them to the best of your ability and always inspect what you expect.
